The synagogue used as a Jewish museum is the center of a small ghetto called Lokšany. It was established in the first half of the 18th century after a forced Jewish resettlement. The ghetto includes 24 Baroque houses - the best known is the Popper Palace. The ghetto lies next to the square and is connected by a narrow passage. To the north of the town there is a Jewish cemetery from the beginning of the 17th century.
